新娘进入祖母房后，仪式开始了，只见“巫师”从火神坛上取下插在酥油饼上的小红旗，坐在火塘边一边念经，一边给火神敬酒，如此重复三遍，然后起身走到新娘的身边，揪下一块酥油，抹在新娘的头顶，口中不停念着经，同时引导新娘的女性长辈也会协助巫师给新娘抹酥油，接着巫师转身来到新郎身旁，一边念经一边给他抹酥油，同样是头顶。这一段给新娘新郎抹酥油的细节和摩梭人婚礼的环节类似，只是，新娘和新郎没有跪在一起，而是分坐在不同的地方。巫师口中不停的念叨，并在祖母房的门楣和柱子上抹上酥油，最后给上火铺的神龛点上酥油灯。仪式结束，新娘被引路的长辈带领到村里的各家亲戚去拜访，用餐，最后回到新郎家。第二天清晨，新娘必须在天亮前用木桶去河边背一桶水回来，倒进新郎家的水缸里，这样她才算是真的成为新郎家的一员了。
